managed to hunt for two hours today this is what i got

It's a trade token, as the title on the face implies.
They were usually given with change by stores like Five and Dimes, tobacconers, magazines hawkers, drug stores, etc.
Sometimes they were just offered free as a promo. The pracitce died out after WWII.
They were the equivalent of todays "discount card...." except for the fact that with the cards, you pay in advance for the "discount" you get later on.***
Sometimes, the token had the name of the store on them, which usually adds to their cachet. They are always a cool find, a real bit of Americana
[size=small]*** I was at Books-a-Million the other day and they offered me a super deal on a 10% discount card, for only $20.
"So, let me get this straight," I said. "I'll have to spend $200 here in the next year, in order to cover the $20 cost of this so-called discount you're giving me."
"Uh, gee... huh?" said he clerk.
I sighed. "Let me put this another way: In essence, I'm paying you to give me my own money back as a discount?"
"Maybe I should call the manager..."
"Don't bother," I told the poor girl. "I'm not interested."
