Manual vs Semi Auto sensitivity.

I am pretty much of a novice and I read the argument of manual versus semi auto sensitivity with interest. Well I did some hunting this weekend and decided to play.

What become clear to me is there does not appear to be a correct answer. I seemed to get more targets and a better signal on manual yesterday. But sometimes I picked up items on semi that I did not get on manual also. I did discover that the hot rocks that sound awesome and read in the upper right of smart find when in auto drop out completely when I switch to semi auto.

In short, I really don't think there is a right answer or absolute, and that Minelab must agree since there happens to be a toggle on/off button on the console. If it was not something we should concern ourselves with on a routine basis it would be buried in the menus. Some my novice advice would be to try it both ways when hunting to maximize your finds.

I think you pretty much "nailed" it which is one reason we have options. I used Semi-auto and did fine then switched to Manual and did fine. It is impossible for me to get in a huff about a hobby detector and where to set the functions. I love the hobby but want to accomplish a little more in life than being an expert at a hobby unless I can get rich being one. Ha

More than once Ive struggled searching in manual because Ive read thats the way to do it. Ive turned the detector down past 18 and still had it be unstable. Then I would switch to auto and I start finding targets in the 7 to 9 inch range.

I still hunt on manual if I can get fairly stable but will use auto when I have to.
