Hey all. I haven't posted on here in I don't know how long, although I still get out and hunt from time to time. I still get on here once every week or two and look at what everyone else is digging up too.
I guess part of the reason I quit posting was that I didn't get out much last year, (although I did find some nice stuff) and part of it was that I had a new scanner that I had never used. Anyway, after this weekend's hunts, I figured I ought to figure out how to scan my finds and post again. It was always fun putting up the stuff I found for everyone to see.
March was a decent month for me, I was able to get out every weekend, and even had enough time for a couple of all-day trips with Golddigger. These trips are always a blast, but I just don't get to do it very often. I'm trying to make hunting a little more of a priority this year.
Anyway, to quit rambling, here are the finds from our hunted out ghetto parks here in St. Louis. First the dimes I found. And no, there's no 'D' on the back of the 1916 merc. I stared at it for hours trying to make one show up, but no joy. The fishscale is a first for me, and I was surprised to see it. It's not a pretty one, and not old (1910), but I'll take it.

I've managed to find a quite a few quarters this year too, for whatever reason. Most of them are Washingtons, but it's always fun to find big silver. Here are all the quarters I found this month, except for one, which I'm saving until the end of the post. . .

I found a lot of Indians this month too, although they're usually pretty crusty in our ground here. Here are the ones that had the nicest patinas.

And finally, the best coin I've found so far this year. . .I got off work early on Friday and met Golddigger at one of our ghetto parks. He beat me there by just a few minutes, but when I got there he already had some big silver. I won't steal his thunder by telling what it is, but it got me fired up to see such a cool target come out of where we were going to hunt. It didn't take long to come up with this quarter. It's a 1919D Standing Liberty in beautiful shape. It came out of the ground caked it mud, and I couldn't see a date on it. I was going to wait until I got it home to clean it, but I could see the beaded rim and knew it was in great shape, so I rinsed it off in a big puddle near where we were hunting. I didn't know it was a valuable date until Jim told me. The scan really doesn't do it justice. It looks much better in person. The discoloration on the date is much less that it looks on the scan, and the date looks better too. It looks kind of washed out in the scan, but stands out nicely on the coin.

Not a spectacular month compared to what a lot of you guys are finding, and I still haven't found a seated coin in over a year, but I really like the quarter.
Happy Easter and good hunting to everyone.
