Maximum depth for coins

Gannon

New member
Hello
Background
I'm new to the deus and detecting. Been at it for 4 months now. I've used the at pro fisher f70 and Etrac mainly. Love the Etrac for coins but it's a beast.
I live in Tennessee medium ground minerals with clay/Loam soils. (And chert) I'm running V4.0 WS4
Research
I've watched all of Gary's XP deus school videos, learned ALOT. Thankful he spent the time to do them.
I've read back and searched the forum with some success on settings.

My issue and question
I've been using Gary's hot program and sifter. Using those settings in iron is remarkable in unmasking targets.
My main issue and question is transitioning to open fields such as old football or soccer fields where iron is scarce and trash is light,
The softest sound I can get is about 6-7 inches in depth.

I'm using
Sens 90
Reactivity 2
Disc 0
Silencer -1
Notch 0
Full tones
Audio 4
GB 90

I like the audio scale on full tones deeper is fainter, but I can't seem to really get beyond 6 inches.
I wish deus had a depth meter this would compete the machine I feel.

So what suggestions do you have or programs I can change to maybe even get to 8 inches of depth and beyond?
(Soil plays a big part in this I know)
Thanks
G

what is your tx on? If its on 1 move it to 2 and 3 you might not be able to use 3 in your soil. You can try dropping gb down to actual number but in my area I run 88 pretty much all the time.

Forgot that portion TX is on 1.

My ground balances anywhere from 68-78.

So should I lower the GB from what the deus is suggesting a few notches or what my manua pumping GB is?

Also I have tried to run 4khz, but it's more succeptable to EMI. Also the vdi changes really screws me up. The 20% difference in vdi changes is rough for a green horn. I wish they could update so the numbers stay the same across frequencies.

Gannon, I think even V4 has VDI norm. Put it in that and the vdi's are all the same for all settings. I still run V3, and I can do put in norm and all is the same.

The tx is your problem try it on 2 and 3 and see what happens ,I would not negative ground balance it because it makes it way to sparky for my tastes.

One day a buddy and me were working an old football/parking lot field with the low trash/low iron(everyones dream). I had my deus and he had his Etrac. At the end of the day he had more goodies than me. It hit me that while he was digging some nice coins, I was digging those really deep signals with no tid that were junk. Remember most coins even old ones are usually found at 8" or less. You may not be getting a deep hit because its just not there. Don't get me wrong. The Deus is a deep machine and I've found coins at 12" but my best finds with it and other machines has been at more shallow depths. Sometimes pour over is a factor especially if you're getting deep clad. The settings your using now are really good for depth. I routinely run on GB 90 but will lower to as much as 82 which will grab more depth but I have very neutral soil. Give that a try and see if it stays stable. HH.!

Really? Do you know where to access this at?

Your probably right. Silver I've dug had been shallow. 5 or less. This is in permissions though.

The Etrac is a killer coin machine for sure! But in iron?? I might as well go home. Even in TTF. The deus is next to non in iron. IMO

I know this maybe off track, but try playing with gold field program 10. It gets a ridiculously deep vdi.

Settings will hit hit a dime at about 9" with a accurate vdi.

95 sens
4khz for silver - 17khz for mid conductors.. I can get a 14k ring out to about 10" with accurate vdi.
0-1 reactivity..
disc 5
audio 2
threshold 0

Garys video on it.

You can access the option under OPTIONS >> CONFIGURATION >> PROFILE and select ID NORM = YES

The downside is that it normalizes all readings to the 18 kHz value which compresses all of your good targets to the upper 10 numbers or so - that eliminates the ability to distinguish a lot of targets that will now read teh same.

deepest settings in my mind on clean ground

Sens = 95
Freq = 4kHz
TX = 3
Silencer = -1
manual GB
Disc -3.2

personal thoughts millage may vary

dug beavers an inch deeper than the carrot cant do that with an etrac :lmfao: drag your etrac mate to the iron pit and kick his butt :biggrin: he will run off with no threshold :throw: its why we are allowed to have more than one detector :hot:
