Metal Detecting business cards

Doug Lenik

New member
I was thinking of having some business cards made up for when I ask for permission to detect on someone's property. Does anyone here have any experience with this? Also any suggestions or input would be appreciated. I am sure I have seen this subject before and thought it would be a good idea to try. Thanks for any help and H.H.

Google search "metal detecting business cards", select to see images. Brings up several great ideas! I have some, helps a lot when asking permission. Also put on the card "Lost Jewelry Recovery" or something like that, then the people seem to like you more than just letting someone go dig holes in there grass! LOL

Just remember that if some one who has your "business Card" and three months later finds damage to their property guess who they are going to sue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never considered any legal issues. I will definitely look into it further as I still would like to try this. H.H.

Wow! I never thought of that! Better not than be sorry!

I get the feeling that if someone were to say "no" the first time, they wouldn't change their mind down the line unless they lost a ring or something on their property at which point they may call you to try to find it for them. I hope other's chime in and share their experiences regarding people maybe calling back after placing a M.D. card?

Geez , what paranoia! I glad I don't live that way.

I use some plain detecting cards frequently but make sure people understand it's not a "business" card. I like to use it as an I.D. card , if you will. I have been approached by park workers and school police while detecting not to mention the regular constabulary and giving them a card makes them at ease immediately and establishes a basis for further conversation on the right footing. It also helps if you're out door knocking or just run into someone who is being friendly in a public park and can lead to permission for detecting other sites.

I always try to keep a low profile while detecting but a card makes a great first introduction when that's not possible.

Get some

I had a bunch made years ago......then I got to thinking about all the reasons people break into homes. I don't use them, as I don't want to become a target.

I Google searched "metal detecting business cards" and there is quite a variety. I think I will pick and choose specific items from different cards that I like and combine them with my own ideas. Stay tuned. H.H.

Good idea Doug .
Keep it simple and they will become a welcome addition to your search for sites.

Just be scaredful not to give a card to the wrong old lady walking her llaso apso in the park because she might jog home and backtrack your phone number and then go burglarize your house before you get back:)
