Michgan was known as the Water Wonderland....

Pete in MI

now it should be called the WONDERland because what are people wondering about when they come up with these ideas to spend taxpayers money - they haven't even gotten and they have a huge deficit????

Awhile back, our WONDERland (Michigan) said 'every school child should have a computer'...well gee folks wonder why years later the kid's never got a free computer...and teachers were able to buy laptops real cheap???

Anyway here is our next WONDER:

If ya don't live in Michigan, don't move here...unless ya want to use metal detecting as your source of income for retirement. (Oh forgot in this WONDERland we aren't supposed to use detectors because it offends the State Archeologist and the DNR.

Mike in MI so...how many of them free iPods do you think your kids will get for free???

have these money spending plans. They have so much "extra" cash that they have to spend it. Here in Tucson they are putting hundreds of millions into re-doing the downtown along the freeway. Supposedly, they will come if they build new arenas, shopping ,etc. The downtown area has a serious problem with drugs, gangs, etc so who wants to go down there ? Steve in so az

teachers are taking cuts in pay to keep their jobs, police protection of officers in schools are being cut because the schools can't afford to pay the police to be there, and they have more kids because other schools have to shut down because they couldn't keep the schools open. Those kids are transferred to our community schools and they were struggling even before taking on a lot of kids from other communities. Doesn't sound like spending money for every kid to have an iPod is the best place to spend money that could be used to keep the schools afloat.
Makes no sense so I still remain WONDERing in Michigan. (They are building a lot of new high schools. From the looks of them...so huge..if they put barbed wire and guard towers and electrified fences they could easily turn them into prisons for kids.)

I wonder what they will think of next???
