Michigan dirt.

I always thought our soil in N. Michigan was mild the way coins and especially Indian heads came out of the ground. My Tesoro detectors run smooth and go deep. I recently purchased a Garrett AT Pro to try a VDI machine and the GB number it shows is 91-92. According to a chart I saw on ground mineralization those numbers make for high mineral content. Very strange.

Not familiar with that mkdel, but maybe post in the garrett forum for better answers.
They might run on a different scale, but here, it's a 3 3/4 knob unless it's a 10 turn mod.
Haha just playing.
But for real the garrett forum might be a better place to ask about this.

Try running all metal or pinpoint first to make sure you aren't trying to balance over a target.
Sounds dumb, but only way I can see high numbers like that would be some metal below when GBing.
Again, never run that one.

The further north you go the higher the mineral content in the soil I believe.
In the southern part, the Detroit area where I used to live and still hunt there on an occasional vacation and down toward Ohio the soil is usually dark, loamy, mild and excellent.
The UP has tons of naturally occurring iron, copper and who knows what else so it is more challenging.
In your neck of the woods who knows but I bet the closer you get to the Mackinac bridge the rougher the soil gets.
Just a guess, though.

Seems logical revier.
Mine down here in the metro area is pretty mild. 60s.

I just used this link in another thread so what the hey toss it up here as well.

My dirty dirt GB is 55-60, problem is in a three foot swing, it may vary from 55-60, setting off the detector. Aggravating.....
