Hey everyone. Well here is some more goodies I found at my military site yesterday.
Two of the tokens were actually found a couple of days ago, but I thought I would include them since they all tie together.
The one with the ship, and the one that you can see the lettering on are both actually blacksmith tokens/fakes from the 1830's...and these ones are quite rare! There is also a picture of 2 blank planchets. This gives me the impression these tokens were being made right on this site. Little is known about these sort of tokens, or who was making them at the time...so it is a rather interesting find.
Next there are two lead bale seals. These are my 3rd and 4th so far to date. Oddly enough the first two I ever found were alse found on the same day...different site. I guess they come in two's. In one photo you can clearly see a number "14" on one side. The other side I cant make anything out perhaps you can in the pic!? These were found where I found the 14th regiment button. Is it possible that is what the 14 stands for!?!
The next seal I can see some strange markings, but can't figure out what they are. Anyone see anything!?!?
Also found a miniball which is in beautiful shape! Hollow tip and still has the plug in the back. Looks like it was dropped yesterday. The "8" beside it looks like it may have been some sort of military insignia with a regimental number?! There is at lest one number missing prior to it as you can see.
I have NO idea what the ornate gold circular item is!? Looks like it was for winding something possibly?! Suggestions?!
Aside from that, I picked up this small key, and an 1897 fishscale.
