Minelab Case

My wife bought me a Minelab Explorer XS about three years ago.:clapping: Shortly thereafter we also bought an Ice cream business. I have only used the unit about 20 times in three years. We are getting free again :crazy:and I want to get the unit cranked back up. First, can someone tell me where I can find a hardshell case to pack/store the unit for travel that has the foam cushions inside? Second, I see alot of talk about software upgrades for the unit. How can I tell if my unit needs the upgrade and how is it accomplished? Thank you in advance and I hope to be posting some good finds in the near future. :bouncy:

the cheapest case i found is to use a hard gun case it has foam and can also store lots of odds and ends inside with the detector GL swing for the gold Pat

I just went and picked up a 1620 for travel. It will fit my excal 1000 and my explorer and all coilsand much more. They are about $150 - $170 but a pelican case has a true lifetime warranty. The 1700 series gun cases are incredible and will work for ya if you don't want to break your unit down

Hey Jimbo......I too use the Pelican case, with the "pluck" foam inserts so that you can "pluck" out only the areas you need to to fit the detector & whatever else. The Pelican cases are built like tanks, and are truly water tight. I use them also when I go scuba diving, for my underwater cameras. The only problem is that the Pelican's are pricey, very pricey!

I spoke with the VP and General Manager of Minelab USA today about just this subject. They are currently negotiating to OEM some cases with the Minelab Logo on them. He says they should have the deal done by late summer, early fall, and have them available for sale at that time.

In the meantime......I would perhaps look at something a little less pricey if you want the Minelab hard Case when it's available.
