Can anyone give me information regarding these units. My husband currently using the Fisher Impulse for beach and water detector and is looking at purchasing the Minelab Excalibur. What are your views on this unit that will help us decide to buy or not buy this unit.

Thanks - I will do that; however, I was looking for non-biased reports from anyone who has used a variety of units for beach/water detecting.

Hi Marylin,
I can understand that, but this forum is a school forum dealing with PI detectors. There are times when it goes astray a bit, but we try to keep the focus on PI detector's.
Try the link below. It will take you to the Finds Beach & Water Forum. If you ask your question there, it will be as un-biased as it can be, if that's ever so.

Hi marylin,i have been useing the excalibur for three years now and find it a brilliant detector,it completly ignors iron targets, has excellant depth and is a verry quite and stable detector. The only negative thing is that it is to heavy to swing for 4 hours of detecting, but it can be hipmounted which i have done and is spot on.Before the excaliber i had the whites 1000 pi and the whites surf pi regards Raoul
