Minelab Explorer Batteries

bought an Explorer II from a dealer and it came with a 1500 battery, He is telling me that Minelab is doing this now. Anyone else got one like this? The manual clearly says 1600 or 1800 nimh. Whats up?

Hi Steve,
I purchased a Explorer ll December 30, 2004 mine also came with a 1500 nimh battery. I called Minelab Service per my dealer's request and talked to Dick Shultz. I explained the situation, never got a response as to why the wrong battery was in the box. Dick did send me the correct battery,1600.
I,m still wondering why.

Maybe that battery (1500)mah is what was used in the earlier Explorer S,XS models and somehow found their way into the Explorer II boxes before shipping! Just a thought. $h!t happens!

To my knowledge all XS Explorers came with a 1600 battery and the S model did not come with any NIMH battery...Remember manufactures buy in bulk and do not produce the NIMH battery, perhaps they received a shipment of 1500 batteries and that may be the answer. Usually Minelab U.S.A. answers E-mails quickly and that confuses me also. Don't own the 11 model so perhaps 11 owners can add what their unit came with..

Received my Explorer II at the beginning of January 2005. It came with 1600Mah NiMH batteries. I didn't find that they would last very long, so I bought some 1800 Mah. These seem to last a whole lot longer.
Theres a lot of maybes, but they advertise the 1600 Nimh included with the Explorer II. Maybe your dealer can help.
