minelab explorer XS question!

Well-known member
hello i have a question concerning today's hunt . I'm running advanced -smart find with sensitivity at 20 and threshold at a minimum why is it that every time i touch/hit a stump or sapling or anything ( not on purpose) the detector sounds off i also noticed carrying it as well sets it of is it a bad coil connection or is it normal? thank you for your time Paul

Most coils you'll get those falses from banging them, but only if you hit them pretty hard. I would take the cover off and see if the problem gets better.

It is from the coil moving inside the coil case.
Sometimes it is a sign of a bad coil if it is over sensitive to light bumps.
Most coils will false if bumped hard enough.

If you think the coil might be bad you can send it to Minelab to be checked out.
If you have a friend that you can borrow a coil from that might give you some idea as to what is normal.

If the detector is over 10 years old, you are stuck with it as Minelab wont work on it at all.
They want you to buy a new detector.
