.....a 10.5", 18.75 kHz, DD high frequency coil for both the X-Terra 50 and the X-Terra 70. The MSRP price is is $175.20, and we at Treasure Hut are offering these coils for a short time for $129.95 each.

J. Evan-Hart of the UK tested the coil and said "this coil just destroys every one I hunt with. It is extremely sensitive, and I found 53 finds in the first two hours. The best of which was a silver Celtic coin catalogued at 400 pounds British. I love the sensitivity of this coil."

from Minelab, should it become commercially available here in the States. And, if it is anything like the similarly sized Explorer coil, at 18.75 kHz, it will be very sensitive to high conductive targets. I'd think it would be an excellent beach hunter!

Dont be so sure they ever come with a smaller coil.They have no history of making small coils for some reason.

Hail SunRay for that I still have an explorer.

Got a strange feeling that the small coil for X-terra will be in the Explorer 7.5" housing.

Until it comes i will still own an X-terra, lets see what happens.

Seems that whites and tesoro are the only ones that listen.

I have hunted all day with a hip mounted CZ and 10.5" coil without any problems. Would the big DD on the 70 be any worse balance wise?

This coil works well on finding small targets. Just do no plan on taking it water hunting. I have been using it in different field comparisons. It sure will find those bits of metal. It would be good for gold nugget and small jewelry hunting. Here is a picture of the coil for your viewing. My comparisons were with the X-Terra 70.

No, it probably wouldn't be any worse Tom. But my viewpoint is differernt than most detectorists. I ain't the perfect physical specimen any more! And, I am unable use my Explorer for long periods of time these days. It isn't the weight. It is the balance.

Recognizing that the 10.5 coil on the X-Terra is made from the same mould as the Explorer, you can get an idea of what it is like. As I said, it would be great for beach hunting, where I could glide it over the sand. Or, if I were in better health. HH Randy

Even with their cheaper machines, they have a selection of high quality coils, small 4.5" and larger 9x12" with no issues regarding waterproofing or floating tendencies, and as a matter of fact, the little coils are hot sellers. It seems Minelab has put the emphasis on the overseas market.--Wade

Joe most DD coils have the windings imbedded in solid epoxy which makes them fairly heavy compared to concentrics. There are exceptions like the Whites goldmaster coils which have foam around the windings.
Is the bottom of the coil solid epoxy or is it vaccuum formed plastic?
