Minelab service

Anyone send their Xterra to Minelab in Illinois for service and if so what was your turnaround time? I sent mine in because the audio cuts out at times. Sent it Wed. 9/26 and they called Fri. 9/28 saying they rec'd it. Haven't heard anything from them yet so emailed Brian and was told turnaround can be up to 15 days not counting shipping time, and I should hear from a technician when they get to it. Good thing it's my backup detector but even so this seems a little slow compared to White's and Garrett service time.

I had the oppurtunity to met Finbar Duncan from Minelab Ireland when I was in UK.They have excellent service.Sent my Xterra 705 in for rep and it was back in Sweden in just a week, awsome.
Well he told me its high season now so any repair would take a couple of weeks though my brothers Terra have to in for reparation.

Maybe its the same for your local Minelab service olace.

Mike

Sorry to hear that DirtAngler. I sent mine in for audio issues in the spring to FL. It was only gone a little over a week. Hopefully this is not a sign!

Mine has been gone over 2 weeks, only heard from them when it arrived there. Fixing to call and find out status, I don't think it should take this long to swap circuit boards which is what I am sure they do. I don't believe anyone does component level repairs anymore and there is very little circuitry inside. Either they are understaffed, low on parts or high failure rate to be taking this long.

UPDATE:

Well after 2 weeks Minelab finally called, the tech said he could not see anything wrong with it. After explaining the issued I had he said he was going to replace some components and ship it back. I should have it next week.

Update.... As mentioned, sent my Xterra in because my audio went out. I tapped the side of the box and it came back on but sent it in to be checked. It was exactly 3 weeks from the day I sent it until it was returned. Consider 4 days total shipping time and 4 days for the 2 weekends. Not too bad I guess, the only thing is they were supposed to contact me after they worked on it and also to let me know when it was being shipped back and this didn't happen. Anyway, as usual, when they got it the sound was working. They did replace the PCB on it that contains the audio anyway since it was under warranty and everything is working fine.

When I stopped by Minelab in Downers Grove at the end of August, I was told they had outgrown that facility and were moving the US operations down the road a few miles, to a larger facility. I just checked Minelab's website and see they are listed as being in Lisle, IL. So it would not surprise me if the slight delay that some have experienced lately is due to that move. However, it is just a guess on my part. HH Randy
