:minelab: thin gold ring program needed.

I have tried hunting for thin platinum / gold rings on sites where i believe a ring may have had a chance to get lost. Does any good pro hunters here have any useful tips for me. I run a explorer SE which is pretty fantastic on coins, no rings have i found as yet :-(
What kind of setting will help to "enhance" these hard to detect rings on inland sites. thanks for a fantastic forum. what coil works best for sniffing these little rings out.

I am still using the old reliable Explorer XS and most of the time I just use the stock ten inch coil. I use the digital screen a lot and have done quite well finding gold and silver rings. Some gold rings ring in at 04, 08, 10 and 12. My buddy who got me into detecting five years ago has a motto,"If it beeps, dig it"!!!!!! Sure, you will dig plenty of pull tabs, but you just never know when a gold ring will pop out of the ground. My last gold and diamond ring came in at 08 and I almost didn't dig it, but remembering my buddies motto I'm glad I went ahead and dug it. I'm not familiar with the SE machine and I'm sure there maybe some guys who have a program for what you might be looking for, but keep that motto in mind just the same.......Best of luck and HH.

I will start digging more of those lower conductive targets from now on . Is their any way to tel foil from rings. I tested a small thin ring the other day it gave a low tone right in the foil range.

Unfortunately no sure to tell a gold ring from the junk that imitates it..As these rings usually come in as foil would concentrate on the foil area just below nickle..As most parks where you might find one are junky a small coil and using fast on and deep off may help..Most gold rings hit harder than the junk that imitates them as they are heavier..just weigh a thin gold ring and a piece of foil and you wll be surprised at the difference. Of course you need a jewelers scale..
Practicing will a thin gold ring and foil will sure help out to differeniate the audio( to dig or not)....
