Minelab Turnaround FYI

Sent my Excal in at the end of June. The unit had stopped working suddenly and I noticed a burn mark on the inside of the control housing. They received the the unit on August 5th. Got the call that it was repaired today. So for any of you considering sending your machine in the turn around is about a month plus ship times. I am pleased it's on the way home but not happy with the turn around. Not compared to how long it took last time I shipped it in my other Excal. Seems like the recent acquisition of Minelab by Codran resulted in some cost cutting in their service center, either that our there are some problems out there with some of their newer machines.

This was a warranty service so I would expect better. She comes home with a new Motherboard and coil (replaced the stock coil for a Sunray S-12)

No I meant July not June... It was a typo. Its still not home yet. Would have thought they would have sent it 3 day UPS, but cost cutting seems to have made that not the norm. I thought I got my last one back with three day shipping. Oh well it should be here tomorrow.

I know When I called and asked what the turn around time was for a meter to be looked at and fixed they were saying about 2 months or so. I know when I call the Las Vegas office to ask a tech question there is only one person that they have to answer all my Elite questions. Maybe they only have one person to work on the units and that explains the poor turnaround time.??? Keep it low and swing it slow Ya'll. Metalfoot.

I sent my Excalibur off to Vegas on Sept 30... I called to confirm that they received it...and they did on Oct 2... I was informed that my machine was on the List....
However I didn't ask How Long that list was.... So I'll keep everyone posted as to what my turn around time is..

BTW..... Thank You... CLYPSTER.... for letting me use your back-up Excalibur while I wait....

Well I called Minelab today. to see if they can give me an ETA on the return of my machine...

They said that they were wrapping up all of August's repairs... then comes Sept... then Mine.. Oh Boy... I was told to call back in a couple weeks...

I'll have to ask Santa for a Wetsuit.... I'm sure the surf will be colder when I get it back..

dude , you sent it in June, and they didnt receive it until aug 5 ?? what did you use pony express?? the slow turn around time is your own fault for using lame shipping.......Minelab is great and I once had an issue and the machine was back within 2 weeks..........

Any updates since your last? Minelab received my Excalibur on October 17 and I'm still waiting to hear from them.

Hey Kenne-Bill, They got mine around Oct. 13, and I contacted them around Oct.27. Becky checked the computer, and she confirmed that they got it and is awaiting repair. But, they were still working on September Repairs!! They only have (2) TECHS, and service the WHOLE USA! So, we just GOT TO BE PATIENT!!
HH, Les Robinson

Thanks for the update Les.

I do have a White's SMPI Pro as a backup detector but it just ain't the same (no offense to the White's/PI guys :)). I'm about ready to go out and purchase a new Excalibur 2 and keep my original Excalibur as a backup and the PI Pro third string.

Hey KENNE-Bill, I'd GO FOR IT, IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY!! If not, try to locate a GOOD CONDITION USED ONE!! I personally have (2) EXCALS & CZ-20
for that reason!! BEST OF LUCK, hh, Les Robinson

Well I went ahead and purchased a new Excalibur 2 from Joe at DeMarco Detector Sales, awesome guy to deal with! I'll try it out this coming weekend.

I'm still waiting to hear from Minelab about my original Excalibur, they received it on October 17.
