Mineralization Bar

Sleepyjim

Member
Who really uses it? I never look at it and thus never really knew/know what it is telling me.....

I see a soft grey lined area, say the left 4th of the bar and then there is a line say in another section of it....

What the F?

LOL

Sure wish that dang bootcamp would get out here!

Jim

That sounds like the discrimination /conductivity/VDI bar not the mineralisation bar. The shaded areas coincide with your disc/notch /VDI settings. The mineralisation bar is the vertical graph to the right of the GB numbers and shows gray dots coinciding to the amount of minerals in the soil. I check it frequently especially when the machine starts getting noisy and the GB may be wandering away from ideal aettings

Your right I got them mixed up, never really use either one....as you can tell.

LOL

So conductivity bar , farther right the line (target?) appears the more conductive then?

Mineralization bar, just a general reference then?

Thanks

Jim

This is how I understand it Jim--and please, anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Look at the horizontal top bar above the 75 in the illustration above. The dark area at the far left of the bar represents your discrimination. It'll go further right with more disc, and left with less. If you have any notches programmed, they should be represented on this bar at their respective points on the bar (assuming the bar represents 0-99). The 75 on the screen represents the conductivity of the target (penny or dime perhaps), and although it's not shown in this illustration, you should see a vertical line on the bar about three quarters of the way down (to the right) of the bar; that represents the 75...this line will move with each VDI displayed. You can see examples of this in google images if you do a search for XP Deus Remote Control.

The vertical mineralization strength bar to the right of the display tracks ground mineralization. I have low mineralization in my area so I've only seen this bar display a couple of blips a few times. The illustration above shows pretty significant mineralization, indicating to the user that some additional programming actions may be necessary to achieve optimum results in a highly mineralized environment (freq, GB, etc.).

Again, if I'm off, please chime in. Thanks.

The conductivity bar will also show a shaded area for any notching you may have employed.
It's not quite the same as the FBS smartscreens but the correlation of the VDI , tones and position on the conductivity bar could provide a little more dig no dig information.
I unfortunately do not observe the conductivity bar enough to know if it would be helpful or not. I know if a number , tone and position don't "jive" on other machines , I always make a point of further examination.
