Mini-Review of Sun Ray X1 for Quattro

As I reported in an earlier thread, I got a X1 pinpointer/probe for my Quattro last week and have had a few days to experiment with it. Thanks go to Ralph at Sun Ray Electronics for shipping it out to me in time for the weekend.

The X1 is a probe that hooks up via a switchbox to the Quattro electronics and display module. I bought mine already mounted on a new upper rod of the Quattro although I understand that you can ship your rod out to Sun Ray and they will do the fitting for you.

The pinpointer functions in a very simple way. It is, in effect a small 1" coil for the Quattro. Target ID and audio function in exactly the same way as the regular coil. It can be used in discrimination or pinpoint mode, just like the regular coil. The target ID was extremely consistent between the probe and the main coil. The probe pinpoints to about 1" laterally and has a depth of somewhere between 2-3" depending on the target and the soil.

I wish I could make some more comprehensive comments but that's it really. The integration with the Quattro electronics is quite amazing which sets this probe apart from other stand alone units. The depth sensitivity is perfect for pinpointing.

Highly recommended.... I would be happy to answer any questions....
