Since just getting my first Minlab unit a couple days ago. The discrimination is amazing!

What machine were you using before?

Had a F75, The difference is like driving a top fuel dragster in town to a Mercedes.

Good analogy and it tells me that you thought highly of the F75 of which it is a very good MD but compared to what you are using now, you feel the power! :beers:

User comfort really, yes the F75 has its place and in the right place nothing can touch it. It just doesn't fit the type of detecting i do.

I have frequented the F75 forum a little and I have read how it is second to none when it comes to trash separation and the responses are lightning quick and as usual it goes pretty deep.

In my opinion the best way to go is not to use the discrimination at all, and just hunt with a wide open screen and ferrous tones.
Granted this might be annoying in some places where you run into a lot of non-ferrous trash and the constant high tones would be annoying to keep looking to see if they're high or low conductivity, but in mostly iron trash, your ears will tune out the low iron soon enough.

To do this, you want to remove *all* discrimination, so the screen doesn't have any sections blacked out.
Then set the tones for "ferrous". (not conductive!) This way all the iron will sound low and all the coins will sound high (along with non-iron junk like pulltabs and screwcaps) A lot of this trash will still sound similar to the coins, but you can differentiate it out by looking at the display. Especially easy to do this in smartfind mode, since the cursor height will tell you the conductivity.

Chris, that is the only way a F75 could be run. All or nothing. If i relic hunted allot or hunted wide open fields i would have stayed with the F75. There isn't a machine i have seen that can touch it in iron, the speed is faster than the human brain can comprehend. Because of where i live I'm limited to only parks and beaches. Maybe one day out of the year i get in on a relic hunt. I like the fact that the E-Trac doesn't mask as bad when using Disc unlike my other units. It allows me to hunt without R2D2 screaming in my ear all day.

Yes I have to second that EZrider, I just got a Expl. 2 and I agree with you, lovely accurate disc.

I love it, all metal and ferrous tones will give some finds!
