Minnesota resort beach hunting.:fisher:

Although the Omega did find some of the clad and other targets, for the most part, I let the LTD do its thing. And, it hit a ton of targets. This resort was started in 1912 and last year I also took a nice number of old coins off it, including a couple of Barber dimes. Every spring after ice out they take a grader of sorts and smooth out the sand and of course, bring up some new targets. With the exception of wheat cents, nothing all that old came from the beach this year, but the 2 war nickels, 34d Washington quarter, 3 Rosie dimes and the 28 Buffalo, token and almost all the wheat cents from 1909 upwards came from the beach along with all the jewelry and most of the misc. Which, included 1 small silver ring. The Merc., 2 Rosies and other 41s Washington came from parks and a old fairground along with the 1893, 96 and 98 Indian Head cents. The clad in the other post totaled $26.46 and was all from the beach. Another $9.00 + in clad I got from two tot lots. (not shown....I spent to much on pie and ice cream and spent it.) LOL For the most part, I used the 11 DD coil, de mode, sen of 75 and 1 tone. I tried other settings, but liked this set up the best. Although the 1 tone really made me watch the screen as there were hundreds of single digit readings which were small rusty nails, small foil and bb size lead. Bp and je modes were just a tad sparky. Not horrible, but a bit more tic's and pips. Can't wait for Aug when we will be returning back up there for the replenishment of the up coming summer season. One shot is about 1/2 of the beach. It is 1100 feet in total. HH jim tn

Man, we didn't want to leave. My shirt was soaked by 7:30 this morning digging here and it would be considered cool for us.You northern guys and gals do have it made in the summer months. Thanks, I did have a ball. HH jim tn

Maybe back in the day when detectors first came out.....but then only highgraded for the halfs and dollars...sheesh! I hate to say it, but I would not have wet a line fishing with a beach like that to detect! Did you wade at all? Did you have a scoop? That is quite a haul, even for you!...real good job!:clapping:

I was told a few guys have detected around the resort off and on over the years. The scoop you saw near the big hole was my scooper and no, haven't been past knee deep out in the water. Heard tell of at least 3 gold rings lost between shore and the diving platform over the years. I was busy the first week digging. When targets started to taper off some, I got to fish a little more. Had four walleye meals and kept 2 nice bass one morning for another. Released 5 walleyes that were in the 20-27" slot plus a few northerns. HH jim tn

Gosh..Thats the scooper you were using? Heck, why not just take your wifes noodle colander up there next time! I'm tempted to head up there and clean it out before you get back, just on the principal of the thing! I might even toss out a few trot lines off the dock for bullheads just because. You gotta get a long handle scoop man, and get those gold rings. I guaran gosh darn tee ya theres gold and big silver out there in the water! You sure got an amazing amount of clad out of the totters too...which leads me to believe theres nobody seriously hunting that area. Anyway, you spend a little more time in the water up to your control box with a good scoop, and no telling what you will find in there! Man, Jimmy! Way to represent!

Silver coins, old lead soldiers, old style rings and an excellent coin count all with comfortable weather. Doesn't get much better than that!

Had to re-check the date of your post! Thought I'd somehow stumbled across one from 20 years ago!

Nice silver. I have yet to get an indian head..... I am sure the governor will put a sign up on the highway stating all welcome but Jim. We like to keep our silver at home. Great hunting Jim.....Z

Actually, the Gov opened the Mn fishing season on a lake a couple of miles away from the one we were at. AND, nothing was in the paper about me not being welcome....then or since. Thanks, Z. HH jim tn
