Minnesota trip hunts!

My wife and I just spent two delightful weeks in the Park Rapids area of Mn and were fortunate enough to have caught enough walleyes for several nice meals and do some detecting around the 100 year old resort we were at and on some spots throughout the area. I had both my F 75 LTD and Omega detectors with me and each found some nice older coins and a piece or two of jewelry. I mainly hunted the resort beach with the Omega and pretty much used the LTD on an old fairgrounds and on the older city parks. Although I only had a few days to really spend on the fairgrounds as they were advertising a vehicle "fairgrounds sale" and were starting to get set up for the sale, the old grounds did treat me to 2 nice finds. The 1st was a 1893 IH cent and a day later right at the very end of the grounds a 1920 Standing Liberty half dollar. That lovely lady had a bit of depth. I was within an inch of having the Pro Pin pointer even with the top of the hole when I spotted the glint of smoke. I got the 54d Washington quarter from one old park and from another the 19? Merc and 925 silver ring. The silver and black ring came from another park and it was a recent drop as it was just nestled in the grass beside a volley ball court. A couple of the wheat cents came from the resort turf and I believe the other 2 came out of the fairgrounds site. The last two pictures are of the shared recoveries with the Omega and the F 75 LTD on the trip. I pretty much just used the 5" DD coil as every place was pretty trashy. Sen was 75-85, disc 0-4, B P mode, 3 and 4h tones and g b of 73-83. HH jim tn

That site yielded some good silver and clad.
Congrats !

Very nice finds jim, that liberty must have been a heart stopper!!!!! ...hh rick in mi.

 Shazzam ! Awesome finds !!! Since i hunt in all-metal mode all the time now, would you please give me a little more insight on your techniques when using the BP mode. Also, do you swing your coil really slow when in the Boost Mode ? Thanks. CCH

CCH, I use the boost mode all the time. It seems to have a tad more depth then de and seemingly a little crisper tone. I would say my sweep speed is moderate leaning towards slow. I use multi tones for old coin hunting and by swinging a bit slower I can investigate the high tone tic's easier. Yes, there is some falsing, but F T dd coils really do the job on close co-located targets. That is where the high tone works so well for me. Mud, I haven't heard "uffda" since my earlier Mn days. Joel, the old fairgrounds (well over 100 years old) has been very good to me since vacationing in the area some 25 years or so now. larryk56, the half had some depth, but everything else was around 4-5." Some of the recoveries from the sand beach did have some depth, though. rick, yes, those big silvers do get the blood pumping. Elton, :thumbup:to you too. You Mn and Wisc guys have a silver and gold mine up your way just swinging on the sand beaches. I did a little research and there are over two dozen defunct resorts in a small radius around that particular area and no doubt many more across the state(s). I was able to track down two closed resort owners while I was there and now have permission to hunt the resorts the next time I am back up there. But, if some of you do seek some out, leave a couple for me, will you.:detecting: Thanks all. HH jim tn

My 5" DD has paid for itself many times over in gold alone, it's silver seeking capability has been proven as well! I know what you mean. In the case of my F70, it seems that 5" coil is much better tuned to the rig than the 11" so it's on most of the time.

Now if I could only get it over those targets in your pics first......
