Missed out on a good deal with a Minelab Safari due to finances

But wondering if the 5 x 10" 18.75 kHz X-Terra Coil would be any improvement over the 9" stock coil.
When pin pointing is it off the tip of the coil that's the hot spot ? Always loved the center of the coil when locating target.
Has anyone else used the Safari and what were your thoughts on it. Wish they'd come out with some new coils for the Xterra 305.
Wished I didn't miss the deal on the Safari. Oh well maybe next time.

Happy Hunting

I do not own a 9 inch concentric for my 705 but plan to get one someday only because it is waterproof. The primary coil that I use is the 5X10 HF DD and I find it to be a great all around coil. Most of the places that I hunt would not be suited to the concentric because they are fairly trashy and the DD separates targets better. I also have the 10.5 MF DD, and the 6 inch HF DD and each of them have their uses but I find the 5X10 to be the best all around coil for my type of hunting. It is lightweight and has good coverage area. As far as pinpointing with the DD it is different from the concentric but it is not difficult. I get the best tone and depth reading while pinpointing then drag the coil back towards me till the tone just disappears and the target should be at the tip of the coil. I usually catch myself moving the coil back up till I get the best tone and then the target will be under the Minelab sticker. I like to wiggle the coil over the target before I dig and check the TID so that is probably why I do it that way but it is not necessary and just an old habit from years back. I seem to have a better sense of TID readings for the HF coils because I am use to them even though the MF TID is closer to the norm. I think you would like the 5X10 but without knowing where you hunt most and what you are searching for it's hard to recommend what would be best for you. The HF coil will be better on small gold items and I find it easier to discern nickels from tabs with it vs the MF. Hope this helps.

Get the DD coil, either the 5x10 or the 10.5DD and you will hunt just as well if not better than a Safari. I've tried 2 Safari's and I just could not stand the multi tones and the slower recovery of them.....MO

I use multitone all the time, take some time to get used to it.
FBS machines are fantastic. They pick up finds that
Xterra 705 cant see.
I have been using Etrac for
