Mission Beach for Thanksgiving

Will be in the Mission Beach area for 4 days (Thurs-Sun) and have never beach hunted. Any great suggestions other than dig everything?

If you can scout it out first, look for where the people hang out. (The towel line) Look for any cuts made by the tide in the sand as the water drains out or cuts a small cliff looking area. Hit those areas. I have the DVD by Dankowski and he explains that if you leave footprints of around 1/2 inch or more move to a more stable area. Sand that will support something as heavy as GOLD! He tested this at the beach with a gold ring (secured with dental floss). Dropped it and within 3-4 minutes it had traveled 23 inches. No way we could reach it, so don't waste your time in that area. With the Safari, you can go from dry to wet with no problem so set up a search area and pattern. I will normally search in all metal, sorry, gotta say it "dig everything".
Hope this helps.
Good luck and post pix when you get back!

Thank you Bunker. I'm pretty excited. I have found 2 silver rings with Safari in local parks. Can't wait for first Gold!

Nice job with the silver rings, I am waiting for my first gold ring as well. Did find a gold "grill" from someones mouth at a park a few months back. Rang up a 10-11.
Best of luck!

I lived on Mission Beach with a bro for a few months. It is all pretty populated. Go down to where MB borders Pacific Beach and hunt where the hostel is. Very packed and most alcohol per sq ft too (even though illegal on beach). Then you will be near LaJolla where the real $$$ is. But all of MB should be good, even on the bay side, lots of volleyball courts. Good Luck!

Well it is Thanks Giving and I am at Mission Beach. Only had about 1.5 hours to detect the beach and I think I did OK? 2-Q, 1-N, 5-D, 5-P, one of the pennies a 1957 Canadian, 1-Allen Wrench, and 1 Ring.
The Ring is silver in color but I'm not sure SILVER. It has a cool saying on it "If God brings you to it He will bring you through it" On the inside of the ring it has what looks like "K8LA". I will get pictures posted after my Thanks Giving Day Hunt.

Dig on
