Modest finds...

Hey folks!

My second post of found treasure since moving back into California. I located an old picnic grounds (with tons of trash!!) that dates back to the twenties and is situated along the Sacramento River, but it appears others must have beat me to all the silver save one lone '42 mercury dime.

Other finds include a copper container whose diameter is between a quarter and half dollar. Not sure what it contained but it sure wasn't coins, unfortunately! Next was an old Farmers Insurance license plate hopper, probably dating to the forties like the Merc. And then a sweet Tootsie Toy Triumph TR-3! I love finding Tootsie Toys! I noticed this one will sell for about $12.99 in good condition, which mine isn't. Last of all, a type of key that is a first for me. Not sure what it was used to open, but I'm sure someone here can identify it.

Thanks for looking, and hopefully next time I'll have more silver to show for my efforts.

HH,

Ray

Interesting stuff Ray! If it's really trashy I would only dig targets between 30-38 and include 14 for the old nickels. The round container is an old make-up case, I've found several before, sometimes they still have the poderpuff thingie inside. And if there's mercs there you could always land a coveted 1916 D.

Ray, we got our Safaris about the same time and you really tore things up with yours. Congratulations! Now Now let's see how thing go for the new year. Oonus

We are frozen in here in Gettysburg. A buddy of mine went out ice chopping a couple of days ago and ended up with a handful of modern bullets, several 12 ga shotgun shell heads (known as the ubiquitous 12th Georgia Button, and also availlable in the rarer 14th GA and 410th GA), and a broken shovel.

Waiting for the thw,
TomH
