As I mentioned in my previous post I did get to do some metal detecting today. There are lots of small towns and I stopped in one with a population (according to the sign) of 200. They have a small town hall with a sign showing a date in the 1800s. No don't get ahead of me - no 1800 coins were found.
I knew I didn't have a lot of time to detect so hit the area around the swing set first. Got a few coins and even a ring. Didn't look pretty with all the crud on it but dropped it in my pocket for safe keeping. Tried the grassy area for awhile and found a couple common pennies and pieces of alumninum from the remodeling of the old town hall with aluminum siding some time back.
Went back to the play area and figured I'd give the sand box a quick once over then head for home. KA-CHING!
I could hardly move the ACE 250 anywhere without the belltone screaming in my ears. I used the sand scoop and sometimes I would pull up 2, 3 and even 4 coins in one scoop. I hardly moved from where I started and dug signal after signal after signal. Finally the signals stopped and I moved a foot and BAM more signals. This sand box isn't more than say 6 foot by 6 foot. In an hour's time, I covered less than 1/2 the sand box.
Here is the finds I got up to when I decided I couldn't stay any longer:

A total of:
1 - quarter
4 - nickels
9 - dimes
102 - pennies
1 - 10K Gold ring (heart shape on either side of a diamond)
$2.37

My camera has taken a beating lately and isn't giving up excellent close ups like it used to but here are the pics of the ring:

[attachment 69348 P9270012.JPG] (Says 10K and has a + sign after the 10K - any idea what the plus sign stands for???)
The stone is still intact on the ring too. Size 6.5.
As I decided I had to leave I swung the coil over the rest of the sand in that sand box....it went nuts all over the place. If the rest is like what I pulled out, I am guessing there is another 100 to maybe 200 more coins and other items too maybe to be recovered. I have got to get back there soon and get the rest.
So it has been one grand day and have to say Thank you Father for the wonderful things I was able to see and these very nice finds.
Hope you have grand days like this soon and often.
