Had to go back to Wisconsin on emergency leave, while I was there I managed to get out acouple of times. Found my best looking Indian head ever 1898 at least EF cond. found an old colgate metal coupon, and another farm implement metal advertiment. The most unusual find was a piece of what looks to be like natural copper, which I found in a road construction area where they were digging about 8 ft down. the other indian heads are 1890, 1891, and 1901, the merc is 1944,one wheat is 1920 and the rest are from the 40's and 50's. Found an old watch Fob from the St. James Hotel in Red Wing Minn. a dog tag from 1933, a 1940 Nickel and a 43 war nickel. also found an old spoon dated 1847(not shown) well thanks for looking and HH

Ray, I have been to the St James Hotel and go past it occasionally on my way to the Twin Cities. It has been restored. I am curious if the fob was for a room key perhaps as it has a number on it? Anyway those are some great finds. I love it when they tear up old streets. The artifacts usually turn out to be more interesting than the coins. What part of Wisconsin were you in?

Again congratulations,

AL/ SE MN

Hi Ray,

Here is the link to the hotel website. http://www.st-james-hotel.com/ It was established in 1875. That was a neat find.
