Movie Nite

New member
I started having a Friday Nite Movie every first Friday at church following our Friday nite dinner. Over the last 8 months the attendance has steadily grown. I'm thinking about showing "Evan Almighty" but don't remember if it is appropriate. Any comments?

Also, any suggestions for movies to show?

I go to Screen-it.com for family oriented movie reviews -
I don't know anything about this movie, but I find that this is a great site to find out if there is cursing, sex-scenes, or even just bad-attitudes.
It also discusses role-models (is the hero a crook, etc?)

a little corny but decent. Facing the Giants was a pretty good bible based movie. Our family watches a lot of different movies that doesnt have any nudity or sexual situations, but may have swearing in them. This isnt a problem for us, because we have a DVD player that will read closed captioning of the film, and then blank out any swearing. So, there are a few films that have a little swearing in them that I would recommend, like October Skies, The Rookie and Second-hand Lions. These were really good movies(or at least I and my family enjoyed them) but they did have a few swear words scattered throughout. A couple of goofy movies that didnt have much in the way of swearing but were occasionally crude were Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite. I guess Napoleon wasnt so much crude as that many older people just dont get it.

we do the same thing at our church...especially in the winter...gets people out of their house for free movie, pop corn and coffee or kool aid drink.

Second Hand Lions was a good movie. One I am going to have the pastor look at is Straight Talk with Dolly Parton and James Wood. I love the common sense Dolly Parton gives in her role as a radio on the air psychologist...she isn't...just a mistake that becomes a full time job for her as Dr. Shirley. I do not recall any profanity in it at all. RV with Robin Williams is a fairly good movie as it is funny but inappropriate from the stand point of 'sexual connotations' and atire.

Your best bet is to go to pluggedinonline.com and you can look up most movies, videos, music etc. You can find out about how much profanity, spiritual content, sexual content etc..... It is a great site to look up that info!
