Just an update on how things are going with the new Aquastar.
For the past two days, I have been trying to hunt the Gulf beaches, but due to rough seas and an unbelieveable amount of sand cut from the beach, I have given up on that for awhile. I am still finding deep targets at the beach, but they are few and far between.
Today, I went back to my little "honey hole" on the bay. I say it is mine, but I must have stepped in 30 unfilled holes today - really ashame - these folks are going to ruin it for everyone. Wish I could catch one out there, I'd give him/her a piece of my mind.
Anyway, back to today's hunt. Started about 8:00 am and hunted for 7 hours on Max power. Your manual says 6 hours on Max, but I believe I could have gotten another hour or so. The battery needle was just at the red/green line.
In a netshell, I found 38 more coins, three gold rings, a gold chain and two pieces of junk jewelry. That does not include a junk bag with unnumbered pop-tops, bottle caps and misc other stuff. A picture of the good stuff is posted on the Beach forum at Finds. I dug a very tiny and thin gold ring that I almost did not see in the scoop. I still can't believe that it picked up that tiny gold ring - it can't be any thicker than a thin wire. After I looked everything over, I found that most of the trash I dug, I would have dug with any detector (if I could have gotten a signal). The actual number of items that I dug as a result of the Aquastar II PI was not that great and certainly a small percentage of total digs.
I want to emphasize that this place is hit really hard by Mding, and that most of the finds I made (especially the important ones) were deep - some at 18+ inches and beyond. Well beyond my other VLF detectors. Many of my digs were between holes that others had left after extracting their targets. The nice part about this place is that there are few waves and you can really crank the Aquastar up. I believe my settings were: receiver gain at 3/4 full, power on Max and pulse at about 15 (could not use a shorter pulse when in chest deep water).
Just a note to let you know that I am very pleased with the performance, results and quality of your product.
