Monte in the "Compadre II"series pointed out that you could just try changing the discriminator on another Tesoro to the same as on the Compadre.I don`t know if this would be easier or not but it`s worth thinking about.
 
It's not like changing a battery or tweaking a trimmer. It would require much more time and R&D for them to get the depth performance and other characteristics out of the higher-coast models and still have the clean iron rejection of the Compadre.
