Hi,
I went to www.surfscanner.com and noticed that it seems quietly that the deepstar became the deepstarII and the aquastar became the aquastarII. Did I miss a post about this somewhere? The only difference I noticed was the deepstar went from 15uS to 10uS but didn't notice anything on your web site about the aquastarII differences. Can you fill us in?
Thanks,
Charles

Hi Charles,
The posting to my web site was a little premature. I intended for it to appear after the first of the new year.

I was very lucky that Eric selected me to test the first prototype Aquastar for the purpose to help provide information for making improvements. With the above changes made on the Aquastar. The Aquastar has become a very sweet machine to use. To me a hobby should only give you pleasure. By working closely with Eric, we are able to come up with ways to improve the circuit design of the Aquastar. I must admit that I did not make it easy on Eric by using for test purposes. A beach that is next to the Honolulu airport with more then seven radio and TV stations with in one mile of this beach. I like my metal detectors to not make a sound until there is a real target. I can now run the Aquastar with a very low smooth threshold tone in most places on this island. This really helps to hear the faint deep targets and the fine gold items. Thanks so much Eric in taking the time to listen and respond to my inputs on the Aquastar.

Hi Terry and all,
I have always felt that feedback from users is a very important part of development. No matter how wonderfully an electronic circuit performs in workshop conditions, it is what happens in the field, beach or water that matters in practice; not only the electronics but the whole package. It is also impossible to simulate conditions, particularly in the water, in a laboratory environment. Normally I do quite a bit of field testing myself, making trips to the South Coast or perhaps North Wales but seeing as Oxford is about as far from the coast as it is possible to get in the UK, I don

Eric,
It is this kind of activity that makes you stand out in the field as a true gentleman and businessman. After purchasing one of the first Deepstars in the US last year I feel like if anything ever happened or it needed work you'd always be there with a competant answer. I only wish other business people in the hobby were as competant and cared as much as you do.
Kudos to you for producing a fine detector, and standing behind it, and always being ready to make it a bit better!
Sincerely,
-Jeff

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the kind words of praise for working with you to improve the Aquastar. It has been a pleasure for me. I really like the 10 inch coil with the metal grounding stud. It does really help to reduce the electrical interference. Plus it is a very sensitive coil to small gold items. All three of the gold chains were found with the new coil.
I am about out of ideas for improvement now for the Aquastar. But I will continue to try to find ways for improvement.
I am in the process of getting all of the gold and platinum items together for taking some pictures of them. I will send copies of the pictures to you and Bill plus some other friends. Maybe you or Bill will be able to scan the pictures in so that it can be posted here in this forum.
