I bought my detector to hunt meteorites, AFTER seeing a re-run of "Meteorite Men" last fall.
I'm a caver, but once I saw the "Whitecourt Crater" episode last fall....it looked just like on of my "sinks"(cave collapse)
So...I've been learning about meteorites, craters, AND metal detecting all winter. THIS was going to be THE weekend to see if I'm a visionary or an asterisk.
Because of the heavy snow this winter AND the high amount of rain this last week....roads are out everywhere. Bridges gone, culverts washed away, and roads sloughing away. I can't get there this week. Not sure when I can.
One cool thing I didn't expect when I started this...metal detecting is fun by itself. Guess I'll go detect the county fairgrounds tomorrow instead.(I checked, it's ok when no event is going on). Maybe I'll find gold.
