MX Sport Driving me nuts

First post on this form but have been a member since 2013. Have been reading a lot about the sport detector but no one with my issue. As you can see in my signature I have several detectors none have given me a problem to learn. But the sport is driving me nuts first of all is the high tones at the end of the swing. Might be the coil so that is why I am here. Tried to hunt a round some old house foundations with a lot of iron at the end of each swing I always get a high tone. Ground balance for my area is usually around 51 sensitivity usually on three or four. Small pieces of iron 3 to 4 inches deep will ring up as dimes in all directions no variation in sound. All other detectors I own there is always a difference most iron as usual is low sounds. Was trying to hunt a Civil War site with it was driving me nuts with all the high tones this is with the stock coil. I do have a 6x10 that seems to work pretty well at the Civil War site not as many high tones. I have tried swinging slow as possible still no difference in the way it responds to iron in the ground. This is the updated version of the sport if this is the way this machine works I will be getting rid of it. I owned a mxt-Pro for two years which was a very good machine no problem learning. Decided to sell it to get the sport because of it being waterproof.Any help would be appreciated thanks

Couple questions:

When you ground balance, how many bars do you get? The ground screen has two sets of info - strength (seen in the depth readout) and phase (vdi numbers).

Do you have the tracking locked or un-locked?

Have you tried relic mode with SAT at around 6 and iron grunt on?

In the ground here iron will sometimes ring up high due to the strength of the ground and its mineral content, but only with certain machines. It is possible your coil has an issue. But it is also possible there are some good targets in amongst the iron - the MX Sport is good at unmasking these types of signals in iron.

Usually two bars and the tracking is unlocked. I have not tried the relic mode with the iron grunt on. I usually know my machines pretty well as to how they react in iron infested areas. I have used the AT Pro at the same site I have had the sport and have found a few coins. The sport for some reason wants to see less say and inch wide by 2 inches long piece of metal as dimes. I've never had a problem deciphering what is under the coil with my other machines. I have have worked an old drive-in and come away with quite a few silver coins especially with the 3030 and A.T Pro. Drive-ins are notorious for having trashy areas the sport wants to see with stock coil nothing but dimes If that makes sense.

Maybe you have a bad coil.

This is good advice too. The MX Sport has more available gain than the AT Pro, so it's more sensitive to small pieces of metal. Depending on size and shape these can often wrap around to the high silver range (say over quarter).

It's hard to diagnose through text, do you have a way to take a video of what you are seeing?

You now I haven't tried it when it comes out of the ground just throw it in the pouch and dump it in the trashcan. Was out today using it in clean ground deep iron would give a high tone occasionally. This does not bother me as much I can work with that on the bright side I did find three nickels a dime one penny.

Yes I experienced the same things with my MX, and I finally turned down everything and started to learn the MX much better, in less trashy areas, and now I use prospecting mode cranked up and I'm finding small gold, he's right this is a super sensitive machine, I also switch to coin and jewelry when I am overwhelmed, and I slowed down, also black sand and hot rocks and bottle caps will be found as well, butI'm finding more gold jewelry and I know when I finally swing the coil over a lunker class ring 12 inches or more deep it will rock my ears off, I am a water hunter , so dry land might vary some, and yes steel or iron will sound like a good target at times, not an expert, just use the machine a lot , and I still would not leave home with out it, dont wrap it around a tree yet, I was the one who wrote I'm sick of this machine , and I had to use it like it was designed to be used, and not like my AT pro. To me having used an MXS it sounds like you're pumping too much Gain into poor soil?
Like driving in a fog with full brites on... you just cannot see?
Reduce the Gain tween 4 - 7 and make sure that you don't GB over a target?
This you will know/ hear because it sounds like a siren.
