mxt and nickles

i have found that my mxt will vdi 18 when i hit nickles with no variation on the number. anytime i get the nickle readout with any other vdi numbers above or below 18 it is always something other than a nickle. does anyone else experience this or do you find nickles with any other numbers on the vdi???

Newer nickels hit 20 - 24 along with a lot of tabs. 16-18-20 are nearly 100% nickels on mine. I always dig the 16-20 numbers as they mostly turn out to be good targets.

Eighteen on mine is almost always a nickel. Twenty sometimes a nickel, more often a rectangular pulltab. Sixteen usually can slaw. Mine seems to love nickels.

Mine are always 18 or 20 and there is just something about the strong short signal I get with a nickle. I almost always say that is a nickle and it is.

If you don't dig any 16's or 22's then yes all your nickels will be 18 - 20. Depending on many factors nickels can be out of the usual range. Yes most of my nickels come in at 18 - 29 but a lot don't. Rob

My nickels run 18 /20 18/16 usually junk or a green nickel. 18/ 22 can slaw.But if it is a trash area and targets close to each other like 16/20 18/20 14/22 16/18 if i keep seeing that 20 pop in and out usually their is a good target.

Ditto here too. Primarily 18-20 VDI, 16-18 when they're a bit deeper. Have over 2,400 nickles alone in 15 months detecting.
Have taken a liking to them, probably because they in the midst of all them darn pulltabs. Wish more of them were Buffalo, but I'm happy.

On my mxt with the 6x10 coil it is a solid 20 nothing else & it has to be solid, with the 4x6 coil it is 18. With both coils either 18 or 20 it will not move around, if it bounces around it will be trash.
