MXT'S THIRD TONE IN RELIC MODE..................

Outside this evening noticed in places I kept getting a hit that had not the high or low tone but almost an inbetween tone, I had the disc on 0 and trigger forward, iron gave a low tone and all else a high tone. Well I dug one of these 3rd tones, It was a big piece of what looked like a rusted tin can. After that I dug a couple more of the odd tones and they all ended up being bigger pieces of rusted tin cans. I read that this tone could be items very close to the rejection setting, well with 0 disc in relic trigger forward iron gives a low tone, could it be that these cans after rusting are not iron and not quite non ferous ??? Just thought I would post this little tidbit of info and see if anyone has found the same ??? Kinda like a 2 tone trash ID. Now if I could get it do let me know the difference in a pop top and a penny I would have it whooped.

read the relic section of your manual carefully it will explain it there.

....and I almost always run in Relic mode with trigger forward. Some areas I get a lot of these signal, just never got curious enough to dig them. I did notice they are usually hard to pinpoint, so that told me they were likely undesirable targets. But it is normal operation for the MXT.

You bury a coin untill you cant get it no more with the trigger forward and when it goes out of range you still get the third tone???? deep goodies maybe!

Yeah I have read the manual many times and again. A lot of basic info in there. I still feel the best experiance comes from swinging the thingy and digging up them funny sounding targets to get a first hand view of what it is that makes this thing sound like that. Now a good manual should include how not to dig pop tops while digging for a penny and not dig any tabs while digging for nickels and rings, Yeah I know, it aint in there and not much of a way to get one without the other, Oh well, that manual is probally light years down the road so I'll keep diggin them tabs and tops and be happy when they turn out to be a ring, nickel or yes even a penny.
