My Back Deck Nester....

This Robin took over our back deck light and built her nest a few weeks ago...(by the way that's her string for the night lite..haha) She now has 3 eggs that she has been sitting on for at least 2 weeks now. We've tried our best not to disturb her...but it's not been easy...Sometimes we just need to get on the deck and she of course flys...We don't disturb her that much and we are gone most of the day...Does anyone know how long it takes before a robin's eggs hatch? Can putting them off the nest for any time affect the hatch? It just seems it's been a long time..Anyone know? By the way, I thought it was a neat pic taken with the Nikon Coolpix 885. See Ya!

but I betcha the eggs will hatch very soon. That is one pretty picture---very colorful. Didn't realize Nikon could take that good of pictures--LOL. Post more.

I wonder if it is using the heat off the lite to help keep things cozey?
Birds find all sortsa places dont they? I had some of the most stoopid doves build there nest in a plant hanging under a gutter that would ALWAYS spill over, hence the reason for placing the plant there. well, these doves which could have used a bit of chlorox in their gene pool built their nest there three times in a row within 2 weeks after being washed out. The last time the egss and all were destroyed. After all this, they were not getting any brighter so I removed the hanging plant.

Here's a pic of a dove (and baby) that built a nest on top of the same light and wreath 2 years ago. Must be a good nesting spot :>)!!....The dove was much less nervous than the robin and I could get much closer without her flying away. This was taken with my older Sony Mavica with the 10x zoom.

Great shot Doug. Those Mavica's are famous for their zoom and close-up's. Wish I had kept mine but that floppie disc did me in and I gave it to my daughter. Hope to see more of your pictures here.
