My Best Find

After I left from my dentist appointment today, I had a few hours to kill so I decided to to some beach detecting with my Safari. After I arrived at the beach there was a construction crew doing some beach renourshing. One of the worker informed me that a newly wed couple lost a wedding band yesterday. But I decided to check it out after I hunted one of my more productive area. Later on, the young couple approached me and ask me if I would help them find his wedding band. I agreeded and told them that I would head back that way in a few minutes. As I approached the area were the ring was lost, the husband was frantically digging in the sand were he thought the ring was lost with his bare hands in shallow water. He landmarked the area were he lost the ring yesterday while digging in the sand. After about five minutes, I got a solid tone and a thirty-nine on my Safari. A couple of scoops there it was a few feet from were he was digging, his tungen wedding band. He offered me a reward but seeing and sharing their joy and her warm embrace was priceless. That made my day and is something I'll never forget. I am so thankful that I decided to chose that beach out of two others today. The construction crew would have covered the area sometime tommorow with about five feet of sand. Sorry no pictures just lasting memories.

Doesn't get any better than that, does it.

RD, you might want to sign up at LostMyStuff.com. I was able to help out there once (#981).

Congrats good job. Its great to be able to do someone a favor without expecting a reward. Nothing better than seeing the smile on their faces when you can return something that means a lot to the Newlyweds.

Great story with a great ending! I have a similar story but I didn't find the ring this time!!

Last Summer, I saw a couple frantically searching an area of the beach. I could see they had a cheapie metal detector and soon realised they didn't have a clue as to how it worked sweeping the coil like the pendulum of a clock in a big arc!!
They started to appear like they almost was ready to give up what they were looking for and I asked if I could be of assistance. They had been spotted by a lifeguard from his tower looking for her wedding ring and lucky for them the lifeguard station down the beach had a cheap detector which they loaned them.
They asked if I could help which I did going straight to where they had been laying out. Before I got too far, they shouted out from about 20 ft away, that they had found it!!! They were thrilled (it was a gold ring) and thanked me for helping in the search. The look on their faces was pure joy so I was very happy for them!

Nice job. I've found and returned a ring also. The only gold I've ever found. The look on their faces says it all!!!Congrats
