My Best Find!

I found this Watch late last fall while visiting an old High school buddy in Connecticut. I got up early and drove down to a nearby beach just as the sun was rising. I was there for about an hour, and had found some coins, but mostly pull tabs, bottle tops, and than I found this. As I moved the sand away I could see it shine "Gold". My heart started raceing. Seeing that it was a small watch I picked it up an read ROLEX. I almost fell over. Had it appraised. $5,700.00. My best find!!

Looks like a fake.

Well done, I hit the beach every weekend in the hope of this type of find, I bet the owner will miss this one.

I'm glad it checked out good for you :)
I found one under the fishing pier in Pensacola several years ago, a Submariner model. It too checked out, the jeweler told me that a REAL Rolex has the serial number located on the body between the band post.
The band has to be removed to see the serial number and ALL Rolex can be traced to the original buyer. Another sure sign of a fake is when the second hand ticks ever so softly instead of making a CONSTANT SWEEP across the face.
In other words, a real Rolex second hand does not tick, it moves smoothly.
That's a heck of a find John .... Congrats

Hi Mike, I have the Serial Number, but I asked the jeweler if it could be traced back to the owner and he said it would be very difficult.Did you find the owner of the watch you found?

But the answer to your question is YES .... I found him, a guy from New York City and he was rude as all get out when I talked to him on the phone about it :(
He wasn't interested in getting the Rolex back, said that his insurance company paid him more for it than he originally paid.
I traded it for a used boat and later sold it for $7000

If you contact Rolex they will trace the "original owner" down for you, at least that's what I was told.

John, that certainly is a very nice find. Me, I'm a "watch guy", and although I would never BUY such a thing, if I FOUND it I would be wearing it for life. What better answer to the question "You ever FIND anything with that thing???" than "How's about THIS????"

I've found a number of NICE watches that my wife and I wear, but nothing like yours. The one I wear most is this Relic.

But I've always had a fantasy about finding a nice Rolex or a Tag Heuer. Hopefully THIS summer it will come. :)

Well, given the size of your pictures and the fact that it looks kind of "unisex" anyway, I thought it was a men's watch. Then in that case my WIFE would be wearing it.
