im 15 from cumbria uk and my best finds so far are a mint condition 1877 half sovereign and a edward the 1st i have been metal detecting for 4 years now and wondered if any 1 knew of any good sites to go round cumbria
 
Not sure where or what size Cumbria might be or if your town is in a farming / agricultural area.

Go to http://www.forumukdetectornet.co.uk and sign up for the forum. Search the site for the proper forum to register your request to meet and detect with others in the hobby. You can also search the site for local detecting clubs and / or detecting rally's. Try to get involved with both. That would be a good place to start.

Being a "Yank", I've always had good luck meeting farmers in tiny village pubs who let me detect because they know I won't be knocking on their doors every weekend asking permission to detect. You might want to visit such a place with your parents and attempt to meet some local farmars and offer to do some chores in exchange for detecting their fields when they are not in crop. A 15 year old who is willing to work for permission to detect is much more likely to receive permission than just asking to detect with no incentive accumulating for the land owner. Good luck.
