Hello folks just wanted to see what everyone does during the winter monthes up here in Maine we are doing research and dealing with staying warm lol -12 this morning burr without the wind chill cold cold cold!! But besides working i usually try and find new hunting sites with old maps arpund my area. If Anyone else wants to share what they do insted of detrcting in the winter monthes feel free.

I am a real wimp when it comes to winter... I hate the cold and snow..Ice etc.

See you in about May..The end of May... I'm hunkered in.. No skiing, No sledding, No Ice skating, NO DETECTING....

Shoot..... ." if it wasn't for work and needing food "..I would stay inside till May..LOL

I made a quick trip up to Utah over the weekend and just returned to So Cal about 30 minutes ago. I tried breaking and digging the ground while in Utah (not re; detecting but some work I had to take care of) and it was like digging through permafrost!! I literally had to use an axe to break through the hard icy ground. It was in the 20'sF going up to the 40'sF which isn't that cold but the ice and snow were sticking around and the ground was crazy hard. Coming back to the 70's and even 80F today, it is awesome weather to go metal detecting in! Even the beach might yield some good stuff from random beach goer's and who knows, maybe some silver or gold jewellery that was lost this past Summer that others may have passed by? So tomorrow where shall I go? to the beach or hit the parks again? hmmm! Happy hunting and I hope this year will be an awesome year for all of us, physically, mentally, spiritually and of course in our pursuit of metal detecting!!

Winter is sort of one of those seasons you like it or you dont idont dislike it i like smelting, ice fishing and the site of fresh fallen snow (serene) but im not a big fan of the extreme cold we have been getting -25 with the wind factor. I hope everyone stays warm and safe. Thank you for your replys.

I am thinkin about getting a bob house & case of JD. May as well freeze to death catching fish. Must be near 2
weeks since we had double digit temps. NH & ME not a good place for a winter hater. Son is a met & he says the
pattern may break next week & get above freezing ! In any case spring will bring a deep frost & a real bad mud season.
Think I will go wax my Safari.........

We've been in the deep freeze in the Midwest too, so I spend a lot of time on Historic Ariel's and old maps. I spend New Years weekend watching the college football marathon while I clean up my equipment and finds
