My fifth Indian Head Penny

all iron

Member
Went back to a spot that i have hunted a half dozen times and always enter in the same place.
I found a 1899 Indian Head Penny today in a spot that i"m sure i have swung my coil over.

I think the difference this time compared to the last time is that i am a little better than before,
I contribute this to all the help-full advice and the insights that all of you have contributed (every little bit helps)
So i thank you all for your input.

I have also been hunting in all metal mode constantly and listening for EVERY change in ground response.
Today, i switched back to discrimination and my swing speed became very slow and methodical.

The penny came in at 72 and was about 3 inches deep.
Its great that i am able to find old coins at such shallow depths ( not sue if i want to dig a 13 inch deep hole with my lesche knife.:wiggle:

With each target now, i switch to each mode and listen to the response and ask myself... would i dig this in this mode

Thanks again... I'm not all iron anymore.:clapping:

While some models can be swept quickly, and it's easier in mild ground, all too often improper sweep speed can ruin our efforts afield. As we all learn, you and me and everyone else, it pays to get to know and master each model and the search mode and the settings to improve our success.

It sounds like you have a good park to work and I hope the weather stays favorable for you for a while.
