My first 3 weeks with the duece.

Id like to apologize upfront for my rudimentary pic posting skills ....once windows 95 went out, w/adobe photo deluxe 1, Ive never quite figured out how to use those mega-mega pixled cams, and get the files under 420 KB for posting. I use my cellphone with basic paint, so this is about as good as the pics get.

Here are some other items Id like to get out of the way. 1. Im not a park hunter... I have no clue how well this unit will work in your local pounded park. 2. I have no idea how far this unit can perform an airtest.... I havent tried. 3. Im not going to argue w/anyone who says this uni or that uni is a better detector ....this one does exactly what I want/need it to do!

Some folks have had alot to say about the Deus; some good, some bad, and some who say whatever and never even used one or havent used one for very long. Ive now got upwards of 50 hrs on mine, I can honestly say that I understand why some folks will never get the hang of this unit...Using audio at depth, w/o accurate VDI is a turn-off for some.... but for me it just "clicks". Right from the first hr w/factory modes this thing was pulling the goods from iron...I dont know if it can see thru, or around, or whatever....it produces, for ME. To me, its all about whats in the pouch at the end of the day. I can swing this thing for 8 hrs with no ill effect, and more swing time = more finds.

to the pics ... 1. A mix of finds from home, and from Va. From the mini balls left came from a hard hit place in Va. got some minis, a cpl eagle buttons, some roundies, several buckey balls (didnt pic all), also found some per caps, but they didnt fare well out of the ground. To the right of the lead is home found stuff ....rosettes, buckles, toe tap, and some buttons.

2. This thing likes the round stuff! more buttons (not all of them tho) there is one find in this photo that also came from my hunt in Va. the "black" carlous III 1 reale, the rest came from "home". a pair of 2 centers, a pair of '57 flying eagles, 3 store card tokens, a toasted carlous III 2 realle, a V and shield nickel, large cent,a holed seated, a rosie, and some indians (but not all of them)

3. My fav coins from the past 3 weeks

I could have pic'd more stuff, but I havent cleaned alot of it yet. Also worth noting- NONE of these sites were virgin. Most were moderate/heavy to heavy iron sites, using various pitch mode settings. :beers:

Very nice !!! I find the Deus to be the best relic machine I have ever used in the iron rich sites. It will waltz through the iron and pick out the goodies like a laser

nice man great bunch of finds , mega congratz on the reale,s :thumbup: realy stoked to see some finds from someone using the pitch mode :beers:
gona have to give it a try sometime

Thanks Ananda, to me pitch sounds "cleaner" in the iron, although it seems that the vdi in pitch may do a bit more up-averaging compared to tones.... well buttons, lead, and brass tend to up-average, coins seem to lock on. I'll soon be pushed from fields to the woods and turf, I'll be trying out more of the different tone set-ups.

yeap, I call it the relic hunters dream ...but of course, others may feel differently. It works for my hunting style and environments

wicked man thats what its all about enjoyin yersell n finding stuff the best way you feel
have fun

Nice finds.

Have not done any relic hunting yet, but I've just identified a house and surrounding area that was occupied by both the Union and Confederate troops for 3 years during the war. The lower field was the site of multiple camps. I used to do the yard work and bush hog the owners fields, so I'm hoping he'll give me permission to hunt there. I've never seen anyone hunting the area, so I'm hoping that it is virgin territory.

LOL, I know you really had your heart set on that rosie....after careful examination, I believe its the real McCoy

Good evening Terry..!!!

Nothing wrong with your pictures...you can do a portrait of me any time your free !

A great variety of finds on show there. Makes me feel like you've been scalping my fields!

They demonstrate how funny are such posts asking...Is the Deus any good for relic hunting?..or park hunting?

The little beast is a multi-mode-metal-magnet.

Any chance of some scenic photographs of the areas you detect over?

I enjoy seeing the vistas that the lads in the States enjoy when out detecting.

Tonight, I shall re-read one of my many books on the American civil war.....can't get enough of the different perspectives, as told from both sides of that most tragic conflict.

Each bullet, each buckle, have witnessed the pain and passions of ordinary men who voluntarily fought and possibly died for what?

In retrospect, one wonders if there was another way that may have reached the same goal?

Do you sometimes get that cold shiver when you recover historic war items? Or that feeling as you dig, that the soil is soaked with the drama of what happened there?

Some folk can detect without experiencing such sensitivities, to me it's a natural emotion, which makes the hobby very special.

So Terry....thanks for sharing, and if you can post a picture of your countryside, it will be appreciated......Matt.

In this picture, my friends can be seen going into an adjacent field to detect, followed by the farmer's children !

I've just read a report of a large jar of Roman coins having being found in the same county...Shropshire.

The pot contained 10,000 coins.....
