My first day with the 2500

Today was my first day of hunting with the 2500.I hunted a small set of playground equipment in a small town in N.D.I found $2.64 in clad and a gold plated charm from a necklace,it has a red stone in the center.The playground had obviously been hunted recently.There were lots of plugs.I found 6 quarters,10 dimes,1 nickel and 9 and 1/3 pennies.One penny had been hacked into about a third of what it should have been.When I got home I hunted an old homesite next to my yard.I found a 1941 plain wheatie,1961-d penny and a pointed star badge.It says "Wyatt Marshall Earp" on the front with 1957 and Earp Ent. on the back with the pin.The pin and clasp are still on it and they work great.I also found a half dollar sized coin/token that has Zachary Taylor,the 12 th President on one side and a list of his military service on the back.
I'm impressed with the id,pinpointing and sizing.It was real accurate.I can't imagine a detector that pinpoints more accurately than the 2500.I dug very little trash.I dug some signals that bounced in id just to see what they were.It's heavier than I'm use to but that isn't a problem.I'm already getting use to it.
I turned the threshhold volume down as it was too loud for me.I setup a custom mode at the end where I opened up the discrimination more.Allowing it to hit more targets.I accepted the blocks between nickels and pennies.These "hits" I would size.I only have 6 more days off to hunt.I have an old site lined up for tomorrow.Let's see where is the Ben Gay and heating pad?It's tough to get old.Bill

You can run the thrshold silent if you wish or at just a faint hum so you know your tector is working. Try running your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5 for awhile and see how you do. All the GTI's are deadly on pinpointing.

I'm taking off to hunt an old homestead site here shortly.I didn't get an early start,I was up for 20 hours yesterday.I'll try sensitivity at 6-6.5.

Sonds like a good hunt. The 2500 is a bit heavy but you will get used to it. If I swing mine for too long, which I often do, my elbow starts to hurt and it is hard to bend it fully back. I think it would happen with almost any detector. My fingertips also tell me when to quit. Had another 4 1/2 hour hunt today that I'll post in a minute and after two hours rest I went out again for an hour. Arm feels great. Maybe I should do another night hunt!
