Hitting a field that hasnt frozen yet... I think I was running 12k and hit a solid 95 but it didnt sound that great. I slowed down, and hit it from all directions. I tried all freq. and everyone of them had positive on the RH horseshoe. In 4k I think it dropped to 88. Isnt 95-99 what some say to notch out for large iron? If so wouldnt I have walked over this?

That's a fine old pre-1835 (looks like 1817) copper Henry!

I recently had a SLQ hit "94" in 12 khz and it didn't sound too much different than the bottlecaps I was finding that day. I dig it all for this very reason! "88" sounds about right in 4 khz for the large cent. Coins, buttons, and roundish non-ferrous objects will give the most steady and sweet-sounding VDIs and tone. Large iron will usually have bouncy VDIs and scratchy audio. Deep targets are harder to disseminate - but audio is king for these.

I'd notch 98-99 while in 12 khz, 94-99 in 4 khz.

That's a great find! Glad someone is able to get out and hunt!

I would have dug too! Still trying to learn the tones. Nice find!

Nice Henry,
Notch 97-99 all programs all Frequency's for wrap around effect. According to "The Man"

That's why I don't notch high numbers when searching for deep objects. I've had quite a few deep goodies come in from 95-99.
Most of the time you can tell when it's iron wrap. It's just annoying to listen to.
BTW, very nice find.

Nice find! Looks to be in nice shape as well. I'm waiting for my first LC. We are supposed to get rain this weekend (MI). Hoping it will melt the snow some and allow a few more hunts in before freeze up!
