My first Seated Liberty Quarter with the Omega

Wow, what a day. I took the Omega out after work for a short hunt. I asked for permission to detect an old ball field next to a church. I'm glad I did :) I had the 11 inch DD on the Omega. I ran in disc mode: 1, 99 sensitivity. There was a ton of iron, so I wanted to hear it all and try and pick out a nice high tone in between the grunts, It worked! I got a nice high tone at 7 inches. I dug the plug, and it filled to the top with water. It has rained hard here in NC for two days strait. I stuck my pro pointer down in the water and got the signal, dead center. I stuck my hand down in the water and mud, and pulled out that sweet silver. I flipped when I saw what it was.

Excellent! thats a beauty, did you get it on tape? why did you choose the Omega over the CZ6? Do you like the Omega better than you did the T2?

Finding a silver quarter is tough enough, but a Seated would be Super Sweet. Nice job.

I did post a video on my youtube channel, but it's monetized. The more I use the Omega, the more I like it. It is just so light weight, and with the DD coil it's deep. In my test bed it will hit everything my F75 does. In certain instances, I think It may be deeper. I can run it wide open almost everywhere. It's a trip how it chatters until you start sweeping the coil, then it's smooth and quiet. The F75 will run very stable if I disc from 5 to 20, but it does seem to lose some depth. If I disc below 5, it's crazy deep, but will chatter quite a bit unless you're out in the boonies. The all metal mode on the F75 is better than the Omega's, in my opinion.Open field or deep woods where the targets are sparse, I'd go with it. One park that I hunt the Omega goes nuts. The park is next to a large complex with large transformers and stuff. The F75 works better there. The CZ is super quiet and pretty darn deep, but a bit slower than the others detectors I own, but has the salt mode. It's hard to choose. I've been very happy with First Texas machines. I had the BH Platinum, and really thought it was a great value, and underrated by many.I loved the T2,I found it simple to operate, yet very powerful, unfortunately mine was lost by the USPS.I learned a huge lesson there. If you want something to go where you send it, delivery conformation is not enough. I'm interested in other brands as well.I hope to get my hands on a few, and do some testing and videos.

Nice quarter. I've never dug a seated quarter yet. Great find

Beautiful Quarter! Congrats on your first seated. Im curious about the d1 mode does it offer better performance in iron? I have been using d2 as I read it had the best depth. I was tecting out at a late 1800's church site yesterday that had iron grunt in every single sq ft I swung, the lady that gave me permission said it had been swept a couple times before. With that much iron in the ground Im sure that there are masked targets galore. I managed to pull a quarter (1977) on edge but I didnt want to dig all over if the higher pings were the edge eddys off large iron. Planning on going back at any rate.

Congrats on the Seated Liberty!!! That's a beauty for sure. The Omega really is a nice machine. I just picked up a used one a few months ago. Absolutely love it. Lightweight, well balanced even with the 11"DD and goes plenty deep.

Now that's a cool find
Will check out your video since i am subscribed
7 inches, you must have been the first person since 1857 to swing a good detector over that spot
Great find..... congrats!

I had my discrimination set at 1, and was running 3 tones. If I'm in heavy iron, I like to hear it. I seem to find the most stuff that way. I think that if you disc out the tiny nails, you may miss a lot of stuff when the machine nulls out the iron. The high tone can be a bit faint, so some people prefer two tones.

Thanks for all the kind words Guys :)

With my Omega I also keep the Disc. set at '1'. The Sensitivity at '99' (unless there is just too much EMI). I ALWAYS Ground Balance. But my Audio TONE ID selection is as follows:

For Tot Lots and similar modern "flash money" or casual hunting sites, I like to use the 4-Tone selection because i like the 5

Thanks for the tips Monte. I'm going to try and detect that spot again after work tomorrow. I'll give the two tone a try and see if I can get used to it. I hope this spot will give up something else nice. last year I found a Barber quarter and an Indian head penny in a spot just down the road from this one. I hunted that place 20 times after that and never dug another old coin. I guess that's how it goes sometimes:)
