My First Silver Coin!

Well it finally happened. I had a really productive morning personally, so I decided to go out for an hour to the "sledding hill." It's a 1936 Washington well-worn quarter, but it's sooooo cool to see a shiny thing and not have it be foil or a can destroyed by a lawn mower.

Not much I know, except that it's my first one! Thanks for all the advice!

I almost didn't dig it, because it was only a foot or so away from two other targets that turned out to be an shredded aluminum can. So glad I dug it! LOL.

Another weird thing is that I found 2 horse shoes today in the same general area. Hmmm, I might have to spend a little more time at that edge of the hill.

SWEET! That's a great find for sure. Don't give up on that area, there's probably more silver in there, get some string and grid it off.

Thanks everyone! It's kind of strange, but the "center" of the hill where people sled is like it's hollowed out a bit. I've been finding quite a few coins but of zinc and clad. (a few older), but I think I've started to see that the edge of the hill, where people don't sled as much, might be an old old path or road. That's where I found the 2 horse shoes, and the silver coin. If I use my imagination, I can see how the sledding area might have been part of old farm land, and the edge, along the woods and ravine might be where a path or road would have been. I'm going to hit that area harder next time and see what's up.

......when I started in the '70's in many schools I averaged 10 pieces of silver per hour. (beep/dig AH Super Pro)
You find one now its deep, or was dug as a by product of digging questionable signals that are somewhat masked.
