Howdy,
Had a couple hours available Sunday afternoon, but was visiting family so had to switch venues to get my hunting fix in. Did a little research to check on local, older park places and the ordinances, then drove around to a couple to check the vibe. Settled on a park setting near a creek that had a couple older trees and crossed my fingers.
Still had the Pro coil on, so just went at it, listening for some deeper signals (I was skipping surface ones, due to limited time). First hit sounded pretty good, so out it came. I was stunned to see an Indian Head right off the bat! That certainly got my attention, so then I hunkered down to try and coax some more. Got another hit, and this one ended up being behind a rather large root, so had to approach it from the other side to free it. Turned out to be a Wheat. I got curious as to how far and how much there might be in this area, so I just then started wandering freestyle, hoping for some random silver screamers. Nada. Tried some more, went to different spots, poked around, etc. Still nada. So, back to the first spot I went. I managed three more old coins from the depths, but couldn't really tell what they were due to the dirt.
Ran out of time and no silver. But, I now know where to start again if I get back that way. Got them cleaned up, the rest were all Wheats.
