The original version of the more modern Compadre, supposedly with all the superpowers the Compadre has just in a different configuration.
Both are well loved by most owners that have used them, learned them and saw what they can do...and find.
Tesoro has a rich and informative language.
Learn that language and you can understand why we Tesoroheads just laugh when others less knowledgeable say these are "just" beep and dig units.
Far from it, and the fun you have learning this language and digging up great targets is immeasurable.

Welcome to the family.
Learning to hunt with sound only can only make you a better hunter in the long run even if you still like using units with screens too, like me.

Tons of people here that have learned this language well and are happy to share so ask any questions you want, anytime.
Many tips, tricks, methods and techniques we know can get you up and running quickly and moving along that learning curve at a good pace.
The more you learn the better it gets...trust me.

Best thing is to get used to it and actually use it as a beep and dig unit at first.
Digging up a bunch of different targets, trash included, will give you a feel for it and get you more comfortable swinging it.
Eventually the beeps you hear will actually begin to differentiate, at first they might all sound the same to you but that is normal.
As it is with most everything in life...

"The more you know..."

First congrats on the new machine and welcome to the club. My first machine was/is still my Cutlass uMax and it in then last three years has found enough gold and silver to pay for itself 4x over.

In fact I feel naked not having it in the line up for the last year due to a dead coil. But my jnlaws are getting me what I wanted for Xmas and that is a 10.5" concentric for her :D

Listen to what Revier said. He is quite knowledgeable on a number of units and the tesoro machines have done we by him.

Good luck and happy hunting ,

Lakota

Welcome to Club Tesoro.

Using a Tesoro is another whole "state of mind". I've had almost every high end tdi machine made, but have found that I enjoy my time with various beep as digs more than the bells and whistles machines! Welcome to the club!

Your hooked............................
That AT Pro won't be around too much longer..........................
Another Tesoro will replace it.

Welcome to our World..........................now go have some fun

This is the detector that made me convert to Tesoro a couple of years ago. I started detecting in 1970. I've always had Whites. I still think they have a good product. However, I was caught up in the great tech chase. I was out with my V3i and my neighbor with his Amigo (control box duct taped to the rod). He was walking circles around me and having FUN. Meanwhile, I was finding nothing while being mesmerized by the color read outs. This was not an isolated situation; it was every damn day! Then I had flash backs to my first White's. It was "inefficient" by today's standards but was finding a lot of stuff in difficult areas. Difficult being Lake Michigan parks being built on iron slag! True, there was probably more stuff then but I was able to discern crap from good items because I was PAYING ATTENTION to the signals.
I digress. I sold over $2000.00 of White's equipment and bought the Lobo. It was a fantastic machine. The only reason I don't have it right now is that I wanted to be in position for the Caz. If the Caz ain't what I want, I'll go back to the Lobo. I also have and won't part with my Outlaw.
Basic lesson(s) learned here. Know your detector and research, research, and research the area you are going to detect. Know the past. Why were people there and what were they doing? Visualize yourself as being there at that time. Learn if the ground has been disturbed. This knowledge will put you far ahead of most people with high end machines. I have to be careful choosing my words here in order to avoid stepping on someone's toes. In very capable hands, high end machines can do the job, but why do you need a color screen to tell you the probability that the tin can lid may be a 50 cent piece. Dig it!!!
Did I mention RESEARCH?

Welcom Steve, looking forward to seeing your finds

Welcome to the club. If its anything like a compadre it will be awesome. If not it will still be awesome like every tesoro.

I now also have a Laser Hawkeye.
Its working :) see attached finds :)
Also plucked up the courage to take apart the Amigo 2 and turn up the sensitivity :)
