9/14/08 These pix are from my garden apartment that is in the first building facing River Road in Schiller Park IL. My apartment was the only building that didn't take on any water!!! My building is on a tiny hill, that was the only thing that saved me.

View from my bedroom window.

Wow. That is a lot of water. Glad you made out ok. Looks like your were only inches away from calamity. I hope you have renters insurance anyway. It is fairly cheap and it saved my behind once. Mine is 12 bucks a month. I'd make sure your insurance has provisions for flooding.

I reckon you won't have to worry about dry ground for a spell.

Good luck.

Chris

Bummer. Does that happen every year?

That was to close for comfort.Could have been a disaster.:yikes:
Glad to see you made out ok.Feel bad for those other people.:

No, I don't have renters insurance, I have been meaning to get some for 5 years now. You better believe im going to get some now!!!

A few times a year some water collects on the road, but the last time it flooded like this was back in 1987, but people say that it wasn't this bad back then.

Once the water went down, all of those flooded apartments filled the alleys up with everything from beds, car[pet, TVs, drywall. It is still bad with all of the garbage still being tossed out.
