...........I recently sold my son's modern silver umax & I received one of those old SS umax from Donny in NJ 2 days ago. My 11 year old couldn't wait to get out & use it!
I gave him a crash course yesterday on how to use the red pinpoint button with the new detector. 3 of us went to a 1840's house with a steep hillside as a front yard. Would you believe it, withing an hour, he found the oldest coin that evening.
Yes, my friend, wouldn't you know it, that rascal found a 1847 large cent and retrieved it all by himself!!! ........along with about 12 other coins & a working pocketknife & we only hunted about 3 hours. He really loves that detector. Looks like I'm going to have a lot of competition on my hands in the future.
It don't "git" no better than that!!

If you're going to have competition, must be great that it's your own son!

looks like you have someone to detect with now whenever you two get to be together. What a great bonding experience for kid and Dad - detecting that is.
Congrats to the both of you.
