My New Joey 5 x 10 coil test results

TONE JUNKY

New member
Well, I finally got out for a few hours Thursday morning to try out my new Joey coil. I hit areas that I've hunted many times before & still found a few goodies. The coil is definately going deeper & getting between the trash better. Although I didn't hit the motherload while performing the test, I did get a few keepers.

I found a nice brass button, (Its a ladies dress button, 1800's era), a roundball, (I'm not sure of the size) & 6 wheaties, (none of them were in good shape, though). I also found the usual clad, a Cub Scout neckerchief slide.

Here are the pics:

I'm glad that you pulled some Finds from Worked Area's with the Joey Coil! Just wait until you get more time logged into using that Coil. Then you will get a feel for them Iffy's. Just remember to go Slow in Trash! There's got to be Silver there if the Wheats are still present. Hope you find some Silver on your next outing and keep us posted on what you think about the Performance of the Joey Coil. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Tone Junky, good going !
I also have a Joey coil for my Explorer SE...

Now I must share this ~ I had a 10" elliptical Coiltek Joey coil for my Minelab GP 3500 PI prospecting machine.

The 10" eliptical coil for the gold machine uses the identical plastic housing of the Explorer Joey, and what I found was that this narrow elliptical body that the wire of the coil was housed in really concentrated the electro-magnetic field of the coil...

I could only detect to about 2 feet from any wire farm fence with the standard 11" coil,
but got in to around 14" with the elliptical coil...

I came home with 5 little nuggets from a fenceline running through a gold lead where I had previously detected nuggets, but previously I could detect only up to 2 feet from this fence !

I feel that this is what makes the mighty little Joey so good for "sniffing" between trash, all the while giving a 10" wide sweep.

Pretty good coil huh !!!:twodetecting:
